6. Sugrue South Downs
We love a British vineyard, hearing about their story and sampling their wonderful harvests. In 2006, acclaimed winemaker Dermot Sugrue planted at Storrington Priory, a small vineyard at the foot of the South Downs. Since then his ‘The Trouble with Dreams’ 2009 vintage (which went on sale in 2013) has rapidly gained critical acclaim. It's a bend of 60% Chardonnay 40% Pinot and only 3,000 bottles are produced a year. Among many awards, Sugrue has since been awarded Boutique Producer 2020 at the WineGB Awards. This vintage is a must try!
